Clear zoning: Wet (shower/bath), semi-wet (WC), and dry (vanity) areas.

Correct door swing direction to avoid inward opening in small bathrooms.

Minimum circulation space (typically 750 mm front clearance for WC and basin).

2. Waterproofing

Full floor waterproofing and minimum 300 mm height up the wall.

Additional waterproofing behind wet walls (e.g., behind shower, bath).

Ensure slope towards floor drain (minimum 1:100).

3. Floor and Wall Finishes

Non-slip floor tiles with proper slope.

Durable, water-resistant wall cladding (tiles or waterproof paint).

Tile layout details: Lippage control, grout width, tile trim profiles.

4. Plumbing Layout

Pipe sizes: 40–50 mm for basins, 75–100 mm for WCs.

Concealed plumbing must be accessible for maintenance.

Vent pipes to prevent water traps from vacuum (especially in high-rises).

5. Sanitary Fixture Mounting

Standard mounting heights:

WC: 400–450 mm

Basin: 850–900 mm

Showerhead: 2000–2100 mm

Mirror top: 1800 mm approx.

6. Lighting and Electrical

Waterproof fixtures for wet areas (IP44+ rating).

GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for outlets near water.

Adequate task lighting around the mirror and ambient ceiling lighting.

7. Ventilation

Exhaust fan or operable window for air circulation.
